MISSOURI ISN’T CONSERVATIVE
Missouri Isn’t Conservative
Missouri isn’t conservative.
Missourians are just continuously lied to.
They tell the farmers to fear the cities,
while clearing the way for corporations
to buy their land.
They tell the schools they deserve better,
then starve them of funding.
They tell the poor that the dream is waiting,
if only the immigrants would
stop stealing their chances.
They tell the Christians they are under attack,
when the truth is simple:
the non-religious want them to worship freely —
they just don’t want to be forced to kneel.
Missouri isn’t conservative.
We are continuously lied to.
You can see it —
in the hands that lifted healthcare access,
in the voices demanding paid time off,
in the protests across the state,
in the governors who came before.
To gerrymander a state for one seat,
after overturning the will of the people,
would be the grossest act —
a vile attempt at immortality
by men elected to represent all of their neighbors,
regardless of political background.
It is despicable.
It is not Missouri.
It is not government.
And it would mark the end —
not of Missouri,
but of democracy,
and with that, the Republican Party itself.
The request to send this to Missouri representatives has been removed because the vote to gerrymander has taken place. Now we must work with Respect Missouri Voters to veto their fascist choices.
